Write the lines you will say in China

These are the 15 lines Hanyuwu teaches for a night market and a restaurant, broken into the 39 characters they use. Each character shows its strokes one by one, in the order a Chinese school teaches them, and then lets you trace it with your finger or a mouse. The box shows you when a stroke is off.

Writing a character a few times makes it stick when you see it on a menu or a sign, and it helps you hear the line, too. Start with a short line such as 打包 (dǎbāo, “to go”), then print a practice sheet with grid boxes and faded copies to trace on paper. It is all free, with no account.

Night market

Point, ask the price, pay, take it away.

Restaurant
